Gholtogh carpets are nomadic carpets knotted by the Gholtogh tribe in the northeastern region of Iran, in a small village bearing the same name - Gholtogh.
The designs often feature geometric patterns, intricate medallions and floral motifs. The inspiration is fetched from the natural surroundings of the region and each carpet is a unique piece of art, reflecting the individual style and creativity of the weaver who made it.
One of the defining features of Gholtogh carpets is the use of the asymmetrical knotting technique, which creates a more durable and tightly woven carpet. If properly cared for, these carpets can last for generations.
The colours used are typically bold and bright, with shades of red, blue, green, and yellow being the most commonly used. Gholtogh carpets add warmth, beauty, and elegance to any space in which they are placed.
Patina
Our collection of Patina carpets is comprised of older Persian carpets that all show signs of natural wear and ageing. The carpets are carefully selected with the intention of preserving their cultural heritage and breathing new life into them. All our Patina carpets are washed before undergoing a thorough inspection. If any signs of damage are found these are attended to, and if the pile is unevenly trimmed it is gently polished down to achieve an even pile and add a natural sheen to the carpet.
The result is a one-of-a-kind carpet that still possesses all the qualities of an older hand-knotted carpet. A beautiful carpet with a genuine feel that has intentionally been allowed to retain a distinct patina appearance: to be discovered and admired by yet another generation to come.
